MnDOT Seeking Input on Plans for Busy Rochester Intersection
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- MnDOT is seeking public feedback as it forms plans for a project meant to improve one of Rochester’s busiest intersections.
Crews are scheduled to start the improvement project at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and South Broadway Ave. The project’s goal is to improve safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians at the intersection that sees 50,000 motorists per day, according to MnDOT traffic figures.
The project area will span west and east on Hwy 14 from 4th Ave. Southwest to 3rd Ave. Southeast and north and south from 9th St. Southeast to the access points north of 14th St. Southwest.

Although the work is four years away, MnDOT says project includes potential plans to:
- Alter some or all turning lanes
- ·Reduce speeding, especially on Broadway Avenue
- Resurface Broadway Avenue to 9th Street SE
- Adjust crosswalks and install new sidewalks/trails
- Upgrade ADA facilities
- Replace traffic signal
- Improve lighting
MnDOT officials say the project also includes plans to reconstruct the roads. The public is invited to share feedback through an online comment site that can be accessed by clicking here. The feedback opportunity closes on August 27.
