Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Mo Williams has been named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week.

The league made the announcement Monday. This was the first weekly performance award for Williams in his 13-year career. The six other Timberwolves players who've won at least one of them previously were Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love, Al Jefferson, Nikola Pekovic, Sam Cassell and Stephon Marbury.

The defining game last week for Williams, of course, was his franchise-record 52 points in a win at Indiana. He also scored 26 points in a loss at Phoenix.

Williams entered the week averaging 12.9 points and 6.5 assists for the season.
