Moorhead Cop Accused of Hitting Suspect

Moorhead, MN (Learfield News Service) - A Moorhead police officer is facing a felony assault charge for an incident involving a suspect in a Fargo hospital.

Officer Matthew Lambert is on paid administrative leave after being charged.

The criminal complaint alleges Lambert struck Jennifer Thomas with his elbow, causing injuries to her face at Sanford Health. Thomas was arrested last month for an incident with a gun at the Moorhead Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant.

The city of Moorhead isn't commenting on the matter, but said in a statement that it takes complaints about police officers seriously and takes appropriate actions to resolve such concerns.

Lambert has been with the Moorhead PD since 2012.
