Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Freeborn County man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison in connection with a child pornography investigation involving more than 100,000 sexually explicit images and videos of children

The 100-month prison term was handed down today in Freeborn County Court to 39-year-old James Rambo of Alden. He earlier entered guilty pleas to seven child pornography-related charges through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of four additional charges stemming from an investigation that was launched in January of last year by the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office based on information received by the Minneapolis Police Department.

The criminal complaint says the cyber-tip led detectives to a home in Alden, which is a city of fewer than 700 people along I-90 west of Albert Lea. They found Rambo living rent-free in the basement of his father's home. A search warrant led to the seizure of "several laptops, desktops, phones, flashcards, and hard drives." The court document indicates that an examination of just one of the hard drives resulted in the discovery of over 100,000 child pornographic items and over 29,000 of them depicted known victims identified by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The charges against Rambo indicate the long list of child porn items included "29 unique videos where the subjects were infants or toddlers that appeared to be under three years old."   All of those videos showed the children being sexually abused.
