Mower County Sheriff Cleared from Conduct Concern, Health Issues
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik is back on the job.
Sandvik had announced last November that was temporarily stepping away from his post to address what he described as a variety of medical issues. Mower County Administrator Trish Harren also announced the county had retained outside counsel to investigate a conduct concern reported in mid-November involving Sandvick.
In a statement released Wednesday, Harren announced the findings from conduct investigation, conducted by a St. Paul law firm, did not substantiate the allegations of misconduct. Sandvik had also received medical treatment during his absence and has since been medically cleared to return to work, the statement says.
The statement closes by saying, “The County supports Sheriff Sandvik and his ongoing efforts to address this difficult but treatable medical condition.”
Sandvik was sworn into office earlier this month after winning his reelection bid in early November.
