Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News)- A mudslide at a state park in southern Minnesota took the life of a young man Saturday evening.

A news release issued by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says a 911 call regarding a mudslide came in around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Dispatchers were advised an individual was trapped under the mudslide. 

First responders then rushed to Minneopa State Park in rural western Mankato. Emergency crews found the trapped individual, who is described as a 19-year-old man.

The mudslide victim was pronounced dead once he was recovered in the area of the Minneopa Park Falls. His name has not been released. 

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says the deadly incident is under investigation and plans to release more information once it becomes available.
