Three leaders of a notorious gang operating in Minnesota have been sentenced to federal prison for racketeering convictions.

Prosecutors say 36-year-old Wakinyon Mcarthur was the leader of the Native Mob and was given a 43-year prison term. Two of his top lieutenants, 27-year-old William Morris and 27-year-old Anthony Cree were sentenced to 35 and 24 years respectively.

Over two dozen other members of the Native Mob gang had already pleaded guilty or were convicted of charges stemming from their involvement in the criminal enterprise, which was founded in Minneapolis in the 1990s.

Federal prosecutors say it has become one of the largest and most violent Native American gangs in the nation.
