Natural Causes Blamed For Death of MN Football Player
Aitkin, MN (KROC-AM News) -The death of a high school football player in northern Minnesota was due to natural causes.
Aitkin Police Chief Tim Catlin says the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office has conducted a preliminary examination and has determined 15-year-old Jackson Pfister died from congenital heart failure. The Esko High School sophomore was playing for the school’s varsity football team Friday night when he collapsed on the field during a game against Aitkin.
Chief Catlin says Pfister was rushed to the hospital in Aitkin but died a short time later. The Star-Tribune reported that family members indicated the teenager had previously undergone open-heart surgery for a heart defect.
