Netflix to Stop Working for Some; Minnesotans Should Check TVs
According to a survey by Variety, the average American household shells out $61 a month for four streaming services. That seems surprisingly low to me—maybe I'm just signed up for too many!
Netflix is the undisputed king of streaming with 260.28 million subscribers around the world. However, many of those people might lose access at the end of next month. People are encouraged to check their TV to ensure their service isn't disrupted.

Netflix to Stop Working for Some; Minnesotans Should Check TVs
The problem is that your TV might not be 'smart' enough to use the streaming service anymore.
This wasn't something people had to worry about back when Netflix was just a DVD-by-mail service, but Netflix rented out its last DVD in September 2023 (which is much later than I would have guessed) and is now exclusively a streaming platform.
Even if you have a subscription, Netflix will stop working on up to 60 smart TV models in just a few weeks.
The good news is you don’t need to buy a new TV to fix the problem and keep streaming your favorite shows and movies.
Here are the TV models that Netflix will no longer work on:
According to Unilad, Netflix will no longer work on several models of Sony TVs made between 2011 and 2014 in the following series:
S9, W5, W6, W7, W70, W8, W85, W95, X85, X9, and X95.
If your TV is in one of these series, you might want to upgrade to a newer model. If you don't want to buy a new TV, you can get a Fire Stick to keep using the streaming service.
Additionally, there are 16 other models affected, including various KDL and XBR series. For most models, the app will cease working on July 24, 2024, while the final 16 models will no longer have the streaming service from July 23.
Second and third-generation Apple TVs will lose Netflix on July 31.
