New Collaboration to Help Homeless in Rochester, Minnesota
Silver Lake Fire Station Closed to Those Experiencing Homelessness in Rochester, Minnesota
Over the weekend, the Silver Lake Fire Station was open for the last time to those who are experiencing homelessness in the Rochester, Minnesota community. The Landing MN, the nonprofit organization that has been serving this population at this location, was moving out due to the lease ending with the City of Rochester.
Today, we turned off the lights and locked the doors of Silver Lake Station for the last time.
.
It is with bated breath that our tenancy at the station has come to an end, a day that has loomed over the heads of all involved in The Landing MN Day Center for months.
.
But, we can do hard things…
.
So, we went and did hard things.
.
As the saying goes, when one fire station closes, a pawn shop opens. Well, something like that. 😉
.
We are thrilled to announce The Landing MN will be the proud new owner of the former pawn shop building at Fourth St SE and Third Ave SE. Our doors may be closing temporarily, but we will be back and better than ever as we prepare to re-open our day center in our own building, on our own terms.
.
Thank you for your ongoing support over the past 3 and a half years - we wouldn’t be moving these mountains without you. 🙏🏼
.
Stay tuned as we share behind the scenes of renovations, updates on all things TLMN, and our adventures around town as we continue to serve our friends facing homelessness. - The Landing MN Facebook Page

The Landing, MN is giving the homeless in Rochester, Minnesota a place to land.
Two Organizations Are Collaborating to Help Homeless Population in Rochester, Minnesota
After a long search for a new home to serve the homeless population, The Landing MN, has found a new place. The large space at 426 3rd Ave. SE, which previously was an old pawn shop, will soon begin the process of being renovated to accommodate the organization and the services they provide.
Until the new space is ready, the organization was on the lookout for a place to go so they could continue to serve and provide care to those without a home in our community. Thankfully, a collaboration of The Landing MN and The Salvation Army has been made while The Landing is themselves, homeless.
“The Salvation Army has always been and continues to be actively engaged in serving those experiencing homelessness. In addition to our array of other programs. During this transition for The Landing MN, we are happy to help fill the gap and ensure that no important services to this population are interrupted.” - Major Lisa Mueller of The Salvation Army

As our day center services will be discontinued at the Silver Lake Station on April 25, 2022, we are thrilled to be collaborating with The Salvation Army to maintain access to programming while the permanent home for The Landing MN is being purchased and renovated. We look forward to working side by side with our colleagues at The Salvation Army in this effort and many others to come.” - Holly Fifield, Co-Founder of the Landing
