New Indictment Against Minnesota ISIS Recruits

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Five Minnesota men facing trial for allegedly plotting to join the Islamic State group are now charged with a new count of conspiracy to commit murder outside the United States.

Hamza Naj Ahmed, Mohamed Abdihamid Farah, Adnan Abdihamid Farah, Abdurahman Yasin Daud and Guled Ali Omar are scheduled to stand trial in February. Prosecutors say they are part of a group of friends who conspired to get to Syria to fight with the terrorist group. Three members of that group have already pleaded guilty.

A superseding indictment filed Wednesday outlines new details and charges in the case.

Among other things, it says some of the men played paintball to train for combat. It also charges three of the men with perjury, for allegedly lying to the grand jury.
