New Rochester Hotel ‘Topped Off’
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A ceremonial topping off event was held Wednesday at the hotel that is under construction in Rochester.
Elected and DMC officials joined developer Gus Chafoulias and others connected to the Hilton Downtown Rochester project at S. Broadway and E. Center St.
Work began about a year ago and it is on schedule to be completed in the spring of 2019. The 20 story building will include 264 hotel rooms along with banquet and commercial space.
DMC Economic Development Agency Executive Director Lisa Clarke told the gathering this is a special project for several reasons. Clark says it is very important to the DMC initiative because it was the “very first to go through the process.”
Chafoulias and Clark were the first to sign their names to the “topping” beam.
