With the cost of living always on the rise, it can be hard to feel that you have enough money to live a life where you aren't stressed about whether your paycheck can pay for the groceries and mortgage for the month.

The cost of, well, everything keeps going up, and most of the time, pay raises don't match the increase in the cost of living.

A recent study, though, has really good news for us Minnesotans.

What is the Average Cost of Living in Minnesota?

This study that we're going to talk about looked at what percentage of jobs available in each state met the average cost of living.

So, what is the average cost of living in Minnesota?

This number varies depending on how many people are in your household, how many people are working, where in the state you live, and other variables.

Using MIT's Living Wage Calculator, I looked at the livable wage for one adult and also a family of 4 (2 kids and both adults working) in Rochester, Duluth, Mankato, St. Cloud, and the Twin Cities.

Then, I averaged the numbers out, and here's what I found.

On average, in Minnesota, a living wage for a single adult is $21.43 per hour, which is about $44,579 annually.

On average, for a family of four (with both adults working), a living wage for each working individual is $29.16 per hour, which is about $60,649 annually.

These numbers are not how much you need to make to live comfortably; this is how much each individual needs to make so you and your family have your basic needs met.

The study that I keep referencing was done by NetCredit. Their research showed that Minnesotans need to make $22.05 per hour or $44,100 annually, which is really close to my findings for a single adult, so keep that in mind.

Minnesota Has the Most Entry-Level Jobs Paying a Livable Wage

The study found that Minnesota has the highest number of entry-level jobs that pay a livable wage. This is based on jobs that were available at the time of the study, but that's still good news.

They found that "92.25% of new job listings offer a salary greater than $22.05/hour or $44,100" annually.

And while, yes, this is only to meet your basic needs, that's still very positive news.
