The North Broadway Reconstruction Project began in the Spring of 2021. Crews added areas dedicated to foot and bicycle traffic along the major corridor.

The project also aims to improve accessibility and update the transit facilities stationed along the busy street, the project's website says. The first phase of the project occurred from Civic Center Dr. to the Silver Lake Bridge.

A spokesperson from the City of Rochester says crews plan to begin construction in late June or early July. Traffic along the four-lane road will be reduced to a single lane in each direction.

Maps posted on the project’s website indicate traffic will be shifted to the west side of the road when the work begins then moved to the east side of the street once it has been completed.

The south end of the lane shift will begin south of the road's intersection with 14th St. Northeast and the northern lane shift will begin north of Elton Hills Dr. Northwest.

Access to businesses in the busy area will be maintained during the work. The project website, which says construction on phase two was supposed to start in April, says the work is scheduled to be completed by October.

When it was announced, the project had a price tag of nearly $24 million.
