Neighbors who frequent the Northwest Rochester Cub Foods will soon need to find a new spot for their weekly grocery runs. Signs recently posted on the storefront confirm that the "Rochester West" location is scheduled to close its doors for good.

The massive 88,500-square-foot Cub store celebrated its grand opening exactly two years ago, but despite offering 24-hour service and modern amenities, it struggled to gain a following in an area packed with competition like Hy-Vee, Aldi, and Costco.

Cub Foods Closing NW Rochester, MN Location

If you’re planning one last trip, take note of the new hours. Effective immediately, the store is no longer open 24-hours a day. Instead it will be open from 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Signs posted outside the store say it will close for good on May 30th.

While the grocery aisles will go dark at the end of the month, the Cub Wine & Spirits attached to the building will remain open past the May 30th deadline, but an employee says that shop will eventually close too.

According to a staff member, the liquor store’s future is tied to its license. The plan is to transfer the current permit to the South Rochester Cub store. Once that process is finalized, this Northwest Cub liquor store will also shut down for good, marking the end of Cub's short run at this location.
