Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Board has approved construction contracts worth more than $10 million for two significant county building projects.

About $4.6 million in contracts have been awarded for an expansion of the Olmsted County Public Works Service Center on 50th Street Southeast. It will add about 10,000 square feet of space to the existing facility to house employees from several departments currently located in other county facilities. The front office employees currently located at the site will be reassigned to space on the County campus near the federal prison.

The 17,500-square-foot building will have a dedicated defensive tactics training space with the ability to conduct multiple trainings simultaneously. It will also provide space for multiple County departments to operate during emergency or disaster responses.
