The Olmsted County Fair begins today, although the carnival rides and grandstand events are not scheduled to begin until tomorrow. There is no admission charge but there will be a parking fee for vehicles parked on the grounds. The fair runs through Sunday.

The fair has a long history in Rochester. The first was held in 1860 and it ran two days - in

early October. The initial site was later sold and the organization that oversaw its operations was disbanded. It reformed in 1912 and the fair was held at its current site, which was later donated to Olmsted County by Dr. Christopher Graham.
