Rock Dell, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an attempted theft incident that sounds like a Hollywood movie.

Two men are being held as suspects in the attempted theft of lumber from a rural southwest Olmsted County property.

Authorities became aware of the incident when a man called to report he was pursuing one of the suspects around 3:30 Monday morning. The 43-year old man lives near Rock Dell and spotted two trucks at his storage shed.

When he went to check, one of the trucks began driving away and the man saw the driver flash a handgun. The man began following the truck. That’s when the driver of the second truck pulled alongside and tried running him off the road. When the truck moved in front of the man’s vehicle in an effort to cut him off, he decided to stop and call 911.

A few minutes later, a woman who lives nearby called 911 to report a strange man pulled into her driveway and said he was looking for a friend. A state trooper arrived a short while later and arrested the man.

Officers from Rochester, Kasson, and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office joined Olmsted deputies in setting up a perimeter and the other suspect was found in some woods and taken into custody. He surrendered when told a police dog would be coming for him.
