Olmsted County Mourning Unexpected Loss of Detention Deputy
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the unexpected loss of one of their own.
The sheriff’s office announced the passing of Deputy Andrew “Andy” Mikkel Reinke at age of 38 on its Facebook page last week. His obituary said he died at his home after a brief illness.
Andy began serving the community with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2008. He served as a Corporal in the Olmsted County Jail and held a law enforcement license.
Andy also served on the county’s Deputy Sheriff’s Association Board as the Vice President. The sheriff’s office Facebook post says, “Andy was greatly respected by all in our Office and will be deeply missed. We virtually will hold his wife, young children, and his family and friends in our hearts and minds forever.”
His obituary says Andy, “would do anything for "his people". He always seemed to know someone who could help with various projects or advice. He cherished his family and friends.”
The Rochester Century High School graduate enjoyed Deer and Snowgoose hunting and many other outdoor activities, the obituary says. He’s survived by his wife, two sons, parents and other relatives. His funeral service was held Monday afternoon.
