Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Olmsted County deputies who were looking for a wanted man in Stewartville Wednesday ended up making a sizeable drug bust.

They were looking for 34-year-old Andrew Berndt, who was wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant.

They spotted him leaving a residence at 419 4th St NE around 1:00 PM and when he saw them, Berndt took off running. He was caught a short distance away and that’s when the deputies found he had 1.25 pounds of methamphetamine in his possession.

Investigators later learned 28-year-old Alyssa Larson lived at the home with her five children, all under the age of 10. They were not there at the time of Berndt’s arrest.

Larson was later arrested on child endangerment charges because it’s suspected the children had access to the meth that was found in the home.

The children were turned over to family members.
