One Killed, One Hurt in Sport Car Crash on Icy Twin Cities Road
Maplewood, MN (KROC-AM News)- An Alaska woman lost her life after crashing on a slippery stretch of highway in the Twin Cities.
The State Patrol responded to the deadly crash around 2:25 a.m. Saturday. A single vehicle and two people were involved in the fatal incident.
The state crash report says a sports car was traveling north at a high rate of speed on Hwy. 61 in Maplewood when the driver lost control. The vehicle entered the ditch on the right-hand side sideways near the intersection of County Rd. C then rolled.
The driver and passenger were both ejected during the crash. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Her Vang of Anchorage Alaska, was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where she died from her injuries.
The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Ying Thao of Anchorage Alaska, was also taken to Regions for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The report says neither occupant was buckled and that there was snow and ice on the highway at the time of the deadly crash. Alcohol was not involved in the fatality.
