
Vehicle With Green Light Fatally Strikes Pedestrian at Minnesota Intersection
Blaine, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Twin Cities woman lost her life after she was struck by a vehicle while walking across an intersection Thursday evening.

It’s the second vehicle-pedestrian fatality in Minnesota in less than a week. 78-year-old Cuc Tri Tran of Chatsworth California died after being hit by a vehicle at an intersection in Brooklyn Park on Sunday evening.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle at Intersection in Blaine
The State Patrol responded to the latest pedestrian fatality at the intersection of Hwy. 47 and 85th Ave. in Blaine around 6:35 p.m.
An SUV traveling south on Hwy. 47 had a green light as it proceeded through the intersection and struck the pedestrian while she was attempting to cross the street, the state report says.

Authorities identified the pedestrian as 47-year-old Lavonne Louise Piipke of Blaine. She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The driver of the SUV, a 31-year-old man from Blaine, was not injured. Alcohol was not involved in the deadly incident, according to the state crash report.
