Perfect Weekend for Fall Flood Run
St. Paul, MN (Learfield News Service) - Around 30,000 motorcyclists are taking part in the annual "Fall Flood Run" this weekend.
Participants will ride along the Mississippi and St. Croix River Valleys between the Twin Cities and Winona.
Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety spokesman Bill Shaffer is encouraging riders and motorists to exercise extreme caution and share the road. Shaffer says to "give motorcyclists extra room, pay extra attention, look twice before pulling out and double-check your blind spots."
So far this riding season, 49 motorcyclists have died on Minnesota roads.
The State Patrol and law enforcement in southeast Minnesota are patrolling the area to ensure a safe riding environment.
The annual ride - similar to the spring Flood Run - raises money for the Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul.
