
14-Year-Old Bicyclist Struck by Pickup at Intersection in Albert Lea
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News)- A teenage boy suffered injuries in a bicycle-pickup collision in Albert Lea.

That’s according to a news release issued by the Albert Lea Police Department. Officers responded to the crash shortly after 9:15 Monday night.
Police say the young bicyclist failed to yield at an intersection in the southern Minnesota city.

A preliminary investigation indicates the pickup and bicyclist were heading north on Broadway Ave. South and came up to the road’s intersection with William St.
The pickup came to a complete stop.
As the pickup began to enter the intersection, the bicyclist attempted a westbound turn, entering the path of the vehicle, leading to the pickup striking the bike, the news release says.
The bicyclist, described as a 14-year-old boy from Albert Lea, suffered what police say were “serious but non-life-threatening injuries.”
He was transported to a hospital by ambulance, according to the news release. A 17-year-old boy from Albert Lea was driving the pickup.
Police say the bike-pickup collision is under investigation. Albert Lea Fire and Rescue and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the crash scene.
