Rochester, MN (KROC-AM NEWS) - One of Rochester's early media celebrities has passed away. An obituary posted by Macken Funeral Home says Mary Boyum died Tuesday at age 93.

Boyum started her media career at KROC radio and was among the first in Rochester to make the transition to television when KROC-TV, now KTTC-TV, went on the air in 1953. Her quarter-century on-air career included Boyum's TV show, "Memos from Mary Bea," which became a popular community interest program during the early years of television broadcasting in Rochester.

A memorial Mass for Boyum will be held this Saturday, beginning at 11 AM, at the Church of the Resurrection in southeast Rochester. A visitation is planned during the hour preceding the service.
