ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Pizza Hut is offering to rehire the manager over his refusal to open on Thanksgiving Day.

Tony Rohr says he has worked at the Elkhart, Indiana restaurant for more than 10 years but was told to write a letter of resignation after his refusal.

Rohr tells WSBT-TV he instead wrote a letter explaining that he believed the company should care more about its employees. Rohr says Thanksgiving and Christmas days have been the only guaranteed days off for the restaurant's workers.

A statement from Pizza Hut's corporate office says it respects an employee's right to not work on the holiday and that the store owner has agreed to reinstate Rohr.

Rohr says he hasn't decided yet whether to accept.
