Police Investigating Fatal Shooting at Twin Cities Homeless Encampment
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in the Twin Cities are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a homeless encampment.
A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says officers responded to the report of a shooting around 5:15 p.m. It happened at an encampment in south Minneapolis that is known as Nenookaasi.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a 45-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting victim was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say homicide detectives responded to the scene and have begun work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
The victim’s name has not been released. No arrests have been announced.
A Metro Transit bus also responded to the encampment to give residents a warm place to shelter while law enforcement was processing the scene.
