Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -  A Rochester man has been sentenced to five years on probation for his conviction on a felony terroristic threats charge.

23-year-old Damien Rose was also given a stayed one-year prison term in connection with an incident that occurred in the fall of 2021. He earlier entered into a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of three other felony threats charges and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

Rose was arrested after he was accused of threatening a store clerk and three juveniles with a knife. According to the criminal complaint, the threats followed a shoplifting incident at the Apollo Superette along Fourth Street Southeast. The court record alleged that a store employee saw Rose steal a pair of sunglasses and then followed him in his vehicle and witnessed Rose stealing a backpack from the juveniles.

Rose was accused of pulling out a knife and threatening to harm the store clerk. He was also accused of threatening the juveniles after they chased him in an attempt to retrieve the backpack. The criminal complaint alleged that Rose told one of the juveniles that he would slit his throat.

Rose later admitted to police that he had stolen the sunglasses and that he had a knife in his possession, but he denied issuing the threats.
