Morristown Township, MN (Learfield News Service) - A southern Minnesota man is dead after getting struck in the head by a tow hitch while trying to get a vehicle out of the ditch.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Travis Pineur of rural Morristown was taken to a local hospital Sunday and later transported to Hennepin Medical Center where he died. Deputies say Pineur went into the ditch earlier in the day and a Waterville man stopped to help him out. They were using a tow strap when the receiver hitch broke, went through the rear windows of Pineur's truck and hit him in the back of the head.
