Rochester Airport Awarded Grant to Pursue Western Connection
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester International Airport has been awarded a $750,000 federal grant to recruit a new non-stop service from Rochester to a major airline hub in the western US.
The funding is coming from the US Department of Transportation through its Small Community Air Service Development program.
“We are grateful to have received this grant from the Department of Transportation” said John Reed, RST’s executive director. “Thank you to the regional businesses that offered support in our application for this grant.”
Reed notes the awarding of the grant does not guarantee Rochester will be successful in establishing a western air service connection. Rochester received a similar grant 8 years ago which helped the airport recruit Delta Airlines to operate two daily flights to its hub in Atlanta.
