Rochester Area Jobless Rate Slightly Lower in February
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Unemployment in the Rochester area was down slightly in February. The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County slid a tenth of a point from January to 3.6-percent in February. Olmsted County continues to enjoy the lowest unemployment rate in the region, but the rate for February was up two-tenths of a point when compared to February of last year.
Across the region, unemployment was either lower or steady in February. The jobless rates for Winona and Mower Counties were unchanged from January, while several counties saw their jobless rates dropped by nearly a half-point. Fillmore County still have the highest rate in the region at 5.6-percent, even though it’s rate dropped four-tenths of a point from January.
Minnesota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in February was 4-percent, which matched the rates reported for the past six months.
