Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office are among the over 300 law enforcement agencies statewide that have signed up with the Minnesota State Patrol to stage a crackdown on impaired drivers through the holidays.

In launching the enforcement campaign this morning, local law enforcement officials noted that Olmsted County is included on the list of the state’s top 20 most dangerous counties in regard to alcohol-related fatal and serious injury crashes. From 2013 through 2017, over 50 people were killed in drunk driving-related incidents on roadways in Olmsted County.

State Troopers, Rochester Police Officers, and Olmsted County Deputies will be involved in extra patrols starting tonight that are aimed at identifying and apprehending motorists impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. The enforcement campaign will run through December 28th.
