Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Unemployment rates across southeastern Minnesota moved slightly higher last month.

The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for the Rochester area climbed a tenth of a percentage point from July to 1.8%. A year ago in August, the unemployment rate for Olmsted County was 2.6% and it bottomed out at 1.2% in April.

Houston County, again, reported the lowest unemployment rate in the region at only 1.6%. Freeborn County continued to have the highest jobless rate at 2.3%. The largest month-to-month increase was reported by Goodhue County, which saw its unemployment rate rise 2-tenths of a percentage point to 2.1% from July to August.
