Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Just days after the National Weather Service issued an advisory concerning abnormally dry conditions in southeastern Minnesota, the region was drenched by rain over the weekend.

The rainfall totals in the Rochester area mainly ranged from 2 to over 4 inches. The overall total at the Rochester Airport ended up being about 2.5 inches but the just under 2 inch total for Saturday and Sunday was the highest 2-day total for Rochester since the first couple days of last October.

Through about 3 PM yesterday, Elgin had reported over 3.5 inches of rain but almost another half-inch fell on that same area overnight. Plainview also saw a similar amount of rain from the system while reports of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches of rain were common throughout the region.

It appears the heaviest rain fell in northern Goodhue and into Dakota County. There have been reports of well over 4 inches of rain in some of the far southern Twin Cities suburbs.
