Rochester ‘Career Criminal’ Back in Jail
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A man known to police as a career criminal is back in the Olmsted County jail on drug charges. Police Captain John Sherwin says 33-year-old Terry Heggs is also accused of witness tampering involving a previous arrest for narcotics sales.
He was taken into custody around 1:20 Wednesday afternoon after an officer spotted Heggs inside a car at the intersection of 20th Street and South Broadway. After the driver pulled over, Heggs was seen destroying his cellphone and was caught in possession of some baggis containing synthetic marijuana.
Earlier this year, an arrest warrant was issued for Heggs after he was a “no-show” for a hearing in Olmsted County Court on allegations that he failed to register as a predatory offender. Court records show Heggs was released from prison last August after serving a sentence for his convictions on charges stemming from a shooting outside the former Aquarius Bar in 2009, followed by a sexual assault involving a 16-year-old girl and a drug bust in 2010.
