Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Charges filed against a Rochester man accused of soliciting a child online indicate he was previously suspected of similar crimes.

A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday says Rochester Police received an "internet crimes against children tip" concerning a person using the Discord social media app to solicit minors to engage in sexual conduct. The court document says investigators were able to link the account on the app to 19-year-old Remy Ritsema Nuon.

The charges allege that he sent sexually explicit messages through the app to a 12-year-old girl. According to the criminal complaint, the child informed Nuon of her age and asked him to stop, but he continued sending her messages that talked about having sex with her.

The court document says Rochester police were able to link the IP address associated with a cyber tip to a residence in northwest Rochester. It states that a detective recognized the address as the target of a previous warrant concerning child pornography.

The criminal complaint says the investigator also learned that there had been several anonymous tips, dating back to January 2024, reporting that Nuon was soliciting minors online for sex. One of the reports was directed to Interpol and indicated Nuon was allegedly sending an 11-year-old girl links to adult child pornography.

The charging document says a search warrant was executed at Nuon's residence in May and that Nuon agreed to be interviewed by a detective. The criminal complaint says, in his statement, Nuon admitted that he would talk to children between 9 and 12 years old about having sex. It also states that Nuon told the investigator that he would ask children to send him child sexual abuse materials and he would send them sexually explicit photos of himself.

Nuon is charged with felony counts of soliciting a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct, engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with a child, and distribution through electronic communication material that relates/describes sexual conduct to a child.
