Rochester Could See a Foot or More of Snow From Season’s 1st Storm
The forecast for southeastern Minnesota's first major winter storm of the season has gotten uglier...unless you are a big fan of heavy wet snow.
The National Weather Service is now predicting the Rochester area could see between 9 and 13 inches of snow from Friday morning through Saturday morning. The latest forecast models indicate a band of even heavier snow could develop just north of Rochester and push the accumulation totals as high as16 inches in the Wabasha area. Lower amounts are predicted south of I-90, but the total could still reach nearly 10 inches well into Fillmore County.
Travel conditions will likely become dangerous as the storm progresses. Forecasters say reduced visibility from blowing snow is expected and whiteout conditions could develop in open areas.
