Rochester’s New Halloween Event is Right in the Middle of a Significant Construction Zone

Set for Tuesday, October 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., the event will take place along the future Link Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on 2nd Street SW at 12th Avenue, right across from Saint Marys in the middle of the Link construction zone.
This new Halloween event isn’t just about candy and costumes (though there’ll be plenty of both). It’s also a chance for residents to get an up-close look at the Link BRT project that’s set to transform how people get around Rochester when it launches in Summer 2027.

According to a press release from the city, Link or Treat will feature trick-or-treating, games, and activities for kids of all ages and costumes are highly encouraged. Families will also get the opportunity to meet the project team, learn about construction updates, and see what’s ahead for the city’s first-ever Bus Rapid Transit system.
“The Link project is about building a fast, reliable and sustainable transportation option for our community,” said Steve Sampson Brown, Director of Construction for the City of Rochester. “Link or Treat is a fun way for families to connect with the project team, get updates on construction and celebrate Halloween together.”
The nearly $200 million Link BRT project is one of the most significant transportation upgrades in Rochester’s history. Construction started in June of this year, and once complete, the system will offer a reliable, fare-free way to connect people to key destinations across the city faster than ever.
