Rochester Included in Winter Storm Warning
Rochester, MN ( KROC-AM News) - Most of the southeast corner of the state is included in a Winter Storm Warning from 1 pm Sunday through 7 pm Monday evening.
The only counties in the region currently not included in the warning are Goodhue and Wabasha Counties, which are under a Winter Weather Advisory.
The warning area extends into northeast Iowa, and across southern Minnesota into west central sections of the state. At this point, the National Weather Service is predicting Rochester will end up with 6-8 inches of snow, while a band of heavier snow is expected just to the south and west of the city. Forecasters are predicting over 8 inches of accumulation in that area, which includes portions of Fillmore County, along with Austin, Albert Lea and Owatonna.
In Rochester, the snow is expected to arrive in the afternoon, with most of the accumulation occurring in the evening and overnight.
Cold air will linger in the region after the storm ends, but warmer air is predicted to arrive by next weekend, when the high temperatures should reach the mid 40's
