Rochester Man Avoids Prison Sentence for Armed Robbery
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A Rochester man has been placed on probation for 20 years for his role in an armed robbery in the city.
The judge also gave 24-year-old Derrek Sanchez a stayed 10-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to an aggravated robbery charge.
The incident happened in August 2018 in the parking lot of a convenience store.
The victim told police Sanchez and a 16-year-old threatened him with a knife and gun and then assaulted him before taking his wallet and cash. The victim says the robbery was a setup because he was told to meet the two to buy some drugs.
