Hibbing, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail has been set at $250,000 for a Rochester man accused of engaging Hibbing police in a gun battle earlier this year.

According to the Hibbing Daily Tribune, 24-year-old Che Jones faces multiple counts of second-degree attempted murder, first and second degree assault, along with drug and weapons related counts. Prosecutors in St. Louis County waited until this week to file the charges against Jones because he has been recuperating from the gunshot wounds he suffered after he allegedly fired a gun in the direction of three Hibbing police officers during a confrontation in an alley on January 13th.

The officers were responding to reports of an altercation and came upon Jones standing next to an assault victim holding a gun. He tried to flee on foot, but fell down while running through an alley and allegedly fired his gun at the officers. They responded by opening fire in what was later ruled a justified shooting.

In the days after the incident, Jones is listed in critical condition at a Duluth Hospital.
