Rochester Man Faces Weapons Charge After Domestic Assault Arrest
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is facing 5 felony charges that include a weapons count that could carry a significant prison sentence.
The criminal complaint against 33-year-old Ricky Hutton alleges he was caught in possession of a shotgun and ammunition after he was arrested in connection with an alleged domestic assault that occurred in Stewartville early Wednesday. The firearm, along with a small quantity of synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine residue, was found in a vehicle he had taken from an ex-girlfriend after allegedly punching her and then holding his hand over her mouth and nose until she nearly passed out.
The court documents indicate Hutton has an extensive history of domestic violence and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms as a convicted felon. He is also due in court later this month to be sentenced for a felony conviction involving a violation of a restraining order obtained by a different ex-girlfriend and the charges state Hutton was at that woman’s home when he was arrested on Wednesday.
His bail has been set at $100,000.
