Rochester Man Sentenced for 16 Pound Pot Bust
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The interception of a significant shipment of marijuana just outside of Rochester has resulted in a nearly 5-year prison sentence for a Rochester man.
33-year-old Quran Bennett earlier pleaded guilty to a third-degree drug sales charge stemming from his arrest in October 2018 after he was caught driving a vehicle transporting 16 pounds of marijuana from Chicago. The criminal complaint indicated police also found two guns and two children in the vehicle after it was stopped near the I-90 and Highway 52 interchange southeast of Rochester.
His 57-month prison sentence for the conviction reflects a history of dealing drugs that dates back to 2004. Bennett was given a five-year prison sentence for a drug conviction in 2007 and was sentenced to 78 months in prison for selling crack cocaine in 2014. At the time of his arrest in 2018, Bennett was on probation for a conviction involving the possession of seven pounds of marijuana.
