Rochester Man Sentenced For Raping Woman

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to almost 4-years in prison for raping a woman last fall.

25-year-old Bakil Dahir was given a 46-month prison sentence today for his conviction on kidnapping and third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.

Dahir was arrested last fall after a woman reported he had sexually assaulted her after offering to give her and her boyfriend a ride home following a night out drinking at a downtown Rochester bar. The criminal complaint alleged Dahir forced the boyfriend of the vehicle and then drove to another location where the woman was raped.

He was arrested later the same day based on information provided by the victim. The police report stated she was able to provide investigators with the license plate number of her attacker’s vehicle.
