Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been ordered to spend more than two decades in prison for his conviction on a federal child pornography charge.

28-year-old Kevyn Bradley Heath was originally charged last year in Olmsted County Court as a result of an investigation by the Rochester Police Department based on a cyber tip involving SnapChat. The criminal complaint says investigators linked the tip to an email account associated with Heath's home in northwest Rochester, where a search warrant was executed and uncovered sexually explicit images depicting child sexual abuse involving Heath and a child under the age of two.

The US Attorney's Office for Minnesota reported last July that the Rochester man had been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on six counts involving the production and attempted production of child pornography as well as the distribution of child pornography. He entered a guilty plea to one count of production of child pornography last November.

“Child abusers who commit horrific sex crimes and then document that abuse in pictures and videos are among the most vile offenders we prosecute. This conduct is—in a word—sickening,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. “My office will continue to stand up for the victims of sexual abuse and seek only the strongest of sentences against defendants who commit these terrible crimes.”

Heath went before a federal judge in Minneapolis today and was given a 22 year prison sentence. The judge did give him credit for the one year he has already spent in custody, but also ordered him to pay $106,000 in restitution.
