Rochester Math Squad Finishes Fourth at State Tournament
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The John Marshall High School Math Team finished in fourth place this week at the annual Minnesota High School Math League State Tournament.
The Rockets were seeded 6th in the field of 38 teams from across the state and posted an all-time school record of 109 points at the meet.
JM Senior Nikhil Marda won the individual state tournament title and was crowned State Champion with a perfect score. He competed against 70 other top high school mathematicians that advanced to the state tournament from a field of 3,000 entrants.
Marda and teammate Timothy Alexander, who both made the All-State team, will be competing in the national tournament at the University of Iowa in early June.
The John Marshall Varsity Squads members are: Nikhil Marda, Timothy Alexander, Calvin Blume, Ben Dirstine, Pranav Anandarao, Molly Sadecki, Stephen Akin, and Katie Hoelzer.
Their coach is Jake Johnson.
