That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Wednesday. The alleged incident occurred on Monday at a northwest Rochester multi-residential building.
Rochester police were dispatched to the building shortly before 1:45 p.m. on the report of a domestic disturbance involving a gun.
Charges: Rochester Man Threatened Woman With Gun, Damaged Squad Car
Responding officers were formulating a plan to enter the building when they spotted the suspect, identified in the complaint as 32-year-old Isaiah Ibriham Matthews, outside of the building.

Police told Matthews he was under arrest, but the Rochester man kept walking towards the inside of the building, the complaint says. Officers caught up to him and secured his hands.
Matthews told police he did not have anything on him and that there was a gun inside of the residence. The charges say Matthews was physically uncooperative and at one point was taken to the ground by police.
Police forced Matthews into a squad car and he began kicking the inside of the vehicle’s door, the complaint says.
Matthews told police at the scene and during an in custody interview that he never pointed the gun at the victim and that the gun fell as he was gathering the victim’s belongings after the two had gotten into an argument. Inside of the home, officers found the gun, the charges say.
The firearm was in a ready to fire position, the complaint says.
Matthews is charged with one count of second-degree assault, felony property damage and misdemeanor domestic assault.
The complaint alleges Matthews caused more than $1,000 in damages when he kicked the inside of the rear driver-side door of the squad car.
He was released without bail on Wednesday and is due back in court next month.
