What Moms Actually Want for Mother's Day
A week or so ago, I asked moms what they actually want for Mother's Day. There were a variety of answers and also a few ideas that kept popping up. Here are some of the answers I got.
'A whole day of peace and quiet with nobody needing or asking anything of me!'
'Massages, beauty treatments, salon, food delivery'
'Sleep in and not make ANY decisions or be responsible for anyone or anything.'
'To not have to make any decisions, clean, or cook.'
'Sleep in, flowers, and to not make any decisions.'
'A picture of myself with my kids that I can hang on my wall.'
'Someone else cleaning the house'
'A nap'
'Flowers'
'Spa day'
'Go hiking at a state park and bring a picnic'
'A pedicure'
'A nice meal with my kids'
'A homemade gift from the heart'
'Wine and flowers'
There are a few physical gift ideas here, but the main things that I'm noticing moms want for Mother's Day are:
1. Some peace and quiet for a little bit.
2. Not having to make decisions or clean up anything.
3. Good food with her family.
Of course, gift her some flowers if that's what she'd like, a massage if you can afford it (or build a little at-home spa day kit for cheap, with nail polish, a face mask, etc.), or maybe a professional family photo.
But it seems to me, moms want some time for themselves for part of the day and also a fun time with their family, whatever that may entail.
