Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Two Rochester-based non-profit organizations benefitted from recent events that were held as part of this year’s Winterfest.

One was Channel One’s Mile of Mac and Cheese.

It was held the final week in January and the goal was a collection of 9,000 boxes of macaroni and cheese mix - a mile’s worth of the boxes.

Channel One Regional Food Bank Executive Director Jennifer Woodford said the goal was reached thanks in part to a donation from Hy-Vee Foods,  one of the partners of the annual event.Woodford says the special food drive helps meet a need for a frequently requested item at Channel One’s Supplemental Food Shelf.

The other event was the 3rd annual Cardboard Sled Race that was held at Rochester Golf & Country Club. This year saw 25 competing sleds, almost double from last year’s event. This year’s entrants included ice cream trucks, minions, and superheroes.

Prizes were given in four categories:.

Fasted Sled – #17 Snow Shuttle

Furthest Distance – #23 Stuart Minion

Best Design – #25 Millenium Falcon

Best Team Spirit – #10 Army Strong
