Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are reporting the arrest of a man accused of assaulting an officer investigating a report of a sexual assault early today.

Police Lieutenant Gretchen O’Neill says officers were called to the Heritage Manor Apartments near the 19th Street interchange on Highway 52 around 3:40 AM after a woman came to a neighbor’s apartment wearing a towel and indicating she had been sexually assaulted by 21-year-old Jaeden Sokoloski. The victim told police she and some friends had given Sokoloski a ride to her residence after he called and requested they pick him up a convenience store. The victim indicated she noticed he was bleeding and took him to the bathroom to clean a wound on his face. That’s when she says Sokoloski tried assaulting her by removing her clothes, grabbing her by the hair, biting her neck, and trying to force her into the shower before she managed to escape.

Lieutenant O’Neill says the responding officers found Sokoloski in the victim’s apartment, where he struggled with the officers and tried twisting an officer’s ankle despite before he was subdued by a shock from a Taser. O’Neill says Sokoloski also threw himself on the floor while he was being escorted through the apartment building lobby and attempted to grab the paramedics that responded to the scene and took him to St. Marys Hospital for a medical evaluation.

He is now in jail and pending charges of 4th Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, 4th Degree Assault of an officer and two lesser charges.
